The Draft Beer Party was a political party in Prince Edward Island , Canada . It ran one candidate only in the 1979 provincial election for the office of Member of the Legislative Assembly , when Carl Borden Campbell was defeated in the riding of 5th Queens, which represented the western half of Charlottetown . Campbell received a total of 200 votes, losing to Progressive Conservative candidate James Matthew Lee , the future leader of that party and Premier of Prince Edward Island , who received 4,968 votes.
