The current Drake Circus as recognized on maps and by the UK postal office includes a series of old Edwardian buildings inhabited by a series of Solicitors, bars, cafes and jewelery shops which is popular with students from the nearby university. It also includes the library, city museum, and art gallery. The Drake Circus district extends to Armada Street to the North and the corner of Tavistock Place and Regent street to the south. It previously extended to an island of Edwardian shops that were demolished and absorbed into a 1970's shopping complex that adopted the name Drake Circus even though it fronted Bretonside, which is its true geographical, legal and postal District.
