The term dres or dresiarz is used in Poland (as of 2005) to describe a stereotype of (typically) young men, generally from smaller towns and villages, generally unemployed due to the 20% unemployment rate (as of 2005), but also from commieblock areas in cities. The term itself relates to wearing tracksuit pants and/or jackets - in Polish dres. Classical dres subculture was observed in 1990s, later it merged with hip hop subculture or evolved into hooligans subculture. The alternative term for dres is kark which means "neck", and related but not synonymous term is blokers. The dres is masculinist, sport-oriented and automobile-oriented. Stereotypical apperance and habits are:

• wearing tracksuits and trainers
• short haircut
• strength training in gyms, often using anabolic steroids
• affectation for German automobiles, like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and VW Golf, or instance of lack money, Polish Fiat 126p or Fiat Cinquecento after tuning
• car driving with an elbow put outside car, so called zimny łokieć (chilly elbow).
• affectation for mobile phones
• keeping aggresive dog breeds, like American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier
• eating roasted chickens, Döner kebab and McDonald's fast food
• violence toward people looking like students, long-haired young men, vegetarians, punk rock and heavy metal fans (they all are perceived by dres as brud (dirt) or pedały (pejorative for homosexuals)
• no respect for environmment, littering in public places
• a particular "wide" gait
