Drive Me Crazy is a teen-oriented romantic comedy based on the novel How I Created My Perfect Prom Date by Todd Strasser. Originally titled Next to You, the title was changed to capitalize on the success of the first single from its soundtrack, a remix of Britney Spears's song, (You Drive Me) Crazy. While the song became a number one hit worldwide, it failed to promote the movie, which only grossed $17 million domestically. The soundtrack also featured The Donnas who appeared in the movie.
