Centered around a main crossroads, the village overlooks the Blackwater Valley. The village is part of the parish of Kilshannig. Thomas Russell is referred to as the “The man from God knows where” and, as it happens, he was born in the village on November 21, 1767. Local economy The village has two pubs, Hickey's Beer Garden and The Russell Inn. With a growing population, the village now sustains two shops, the newly built Kelly's Quick Pick and Dromahane Stores, which is more commonly referred to as Bridgy's. The village recently lost its Post Office so the nearest available Post Office is in Mallow town. South of Dromahane is the Dromahane "Point to Point" race track, which draws large crowds from all over Munster to the village for the horse racing event.
