The Drum is an artscentre in the Newtown area of Aston, in Birmingham, England, established as the United Kingdom's national centre for Black British and British Asian arts.
The Drum occupies the site of the former Aston Hippodrome, which was a major variety theatre between 1908 and 1960 featuring artists such as Judy Garland and Laurel and Hardy.
The Drum started hosting events in 1994 and was fully opened in 1998.
First degree in history of art and architecture and the University of East Anglia and post-graduate degree at Oxford University.
Arts Council Trainee in Exhibitions from 1985-87 under the supervision of Liz-Ann MacGregor and has worked at the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford; Mappin Art Gallery Sheffield; Plymouth City Art Gallery; Herbert Art Gallery Coventry before coming to the Mead in 1993.
She is a member of the NTP panel of the Arts Council In addition to leading the programme for the Mead Gallery, she manages the University of Warwick collection which is part of the Lottery funded CAS Special Collections Scheme.
