Drummond was born in Quebec in 1772, the son of Colin Drummond, Lower Canada pay-master and a member of a prominent Scottish family.
Drummond also saw service in the Mediterranean and the West Indies 1805, a mere 33 years old, Drummond had attained the senior rank of major-general and was well on his way to an extremely promising military career.
Drummond, like fellow British commanders Brock and Henry Procter, was continually hungry for reinforcements from Prevost, who held relatively large numbers of troops in reserve at of Quebec, despite the fact that no troops had even come close to endangering the capital.

Drummond were staunch supporters of the Royalist cause, playing an important role in the Scots victory at Bannockburn in 1314.
Margaret Drummond married King David II in 1369; Annabella Drummond was wife to King Robert III and mother of James I. In 1488 the Barony of Drummond was created; later generations added the titles Earl of Perth, Lord Madderty and Viscount Strathallan.
Some notable Drummonds were Margaret Drummond, who married King David II in 1369; Annabella Drummond, who was married to King Robert III, and was the mother of James I. The Drummond clans fought in the Jacobite risings of 1715 and 1745.

I am searching for my ancestors shown on Census 1852, Bernard O'Laughlin settled on Lot 9 Conc. IV of Drummond Township, Lanark County, Ontario. His wife was Mary and children Margaret, Catherine, John, Coleman, Patrick (blacksmith) and Bridget. John is our Grandfather who married Bridget Bennett in 1874
