The group started as a duo, with Tiger JK and DJ Shine, and debuted in 1999 with its first album, The Year of the Tiger. Other hip-hop artists, such as James (also known as DJ Jhig), Micky Eyes, and Roscoe, have also been associated with the group, but Tiger JK and DJ Shine were normally credited as being the main members of Drunken Tiger. DJ Shine left Drunken Tiger in 2005 after its fifth album, [하나하면 너와 나](2004), for personal reasons, and Tiger JK has been gone on as a solo act, successfully releasing a sixth album and seventh album, as well as several singles. Tiger JK
Tiger JK is the stage name of Jung-kwon Suh (서정권). He was born on June 11, 1974, and moved to Los Angeles, California when he was 11. He made his first appearance on the hip-hop scene when he was sixteen in a freestyling contest at a hip-hop festival with Drunken Tiger member, Micki Eyes. Hip-hop culture was predominantly black than it is now, and racial tensions were at an all-time high due to the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, not only against whites but also against Asians, as can be seen from songs such as Ice Cube's "Black Korea" recording. Despite facing a nearly all-black audience, Tiger JK's performance was well received, and he caught the eye of Korean record labels. He later released his first solo, "Call Me Tiger," in 1992, with the title song, "Hide and Seek." However, due to censorship and restrictions put on the song, the song received limited radio play. The album received limited publicity due to the same censorship regulations. is the 162nd day of the year (163rd in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. ...

After the release of Drunken Tiger's second album, The Great Rebirth, Tiger JK was charged with narcotics possession. Although there was overwhelming evidence that proved JK's innocence, JK was found guilty and sentenced to 80 hours community service. The group was also banned from all mainstream television and radio for 2 years, but after demonstrating good behavior, JK was able to appeal the sentence and the ban was lifted. Tiger JK went on to become one of Korean hip-hop's most influential figures. As of 2006, JK was diagnosed with myelitis. JK first learned of his myelitis in March 2005. Although his affliction threatened to hold him back, he was able to feature on Psy’s recent album. He also launched his own fashion brand, Lungta, which showed his extreme dedication to his work. He also collaborated with Korean superstar Rain in the song "Friends" off of Rain's new CD Rain's World. Year 2006 (MMVI) was a common year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar. ...

Tiger JK also recently released a new album titled "Sky is the Limit" (September 2007). It features multiple Korean artists including Ann, T, Double K, DOK 2, Bizzy, and TEBY. The Intro track is titled Sky is the Limit and is a remix of clips from multiple songs that were successful in his career. Differing from his 6th album which had strong influences from reggae and African music, in his 7th album, it seems that he has gone back to his original hip hop roots a bit. He states that he wanted to make his 7th album as if he was writing a book about his life, as the tracks contain many references to his life, making the album very personal compared to his other work. Wanting to make this album a story-telling-like album that is very personal, couple of the songs have longer verses with less hooks, and one of the tracks titled "Hollyhood" does not have a hook, but is just a straight forward story-telling until the end of the track, with a similar feels to it like Nas' "New York State Of Mind". His rhyming style seems to have become more stylish and the production quality seems to be one of his best yet. The album's first title song, "8:45 Heaven," was inspired by the death of his late grandmother, who passed during the recording of the 7th album. Their lyrics often mix English with Korean, and sometimes they record a song in two different versions, one in Korean and one in English. Recent albums were recorded mostly in Korean. However the departure of DJ Shine left Tiger JK to create the sixth album as he saw fit. The result of this was a very different sound from the earlier albums, with influences from reggae and African music.
