Biography

Character History

Drusilla was a beautiful young woman with a gift that Angelus referred to as "the sight". The gift was a form of foresight, which allowed Drusilla to occasionally foretell the future. Angelus became obsessed with Drusilla 200 years ago and plagued her and her family for several years. He killed her entire family, causing her to leave for a convent. On the day she was to take her holy vows, Angelus made her watch as he killed every person in the convent, before he turned her. The trauma from watching her family and convent members murdered drove her insane (a condition she would have for the entire series). In 1860, at approximately 18 to 24 years of age, she was "sired" (that is, transformed into a vampire) by Angelus. She later "sired" Spike. When Angelus was cursed with a soul and became Angel, Spike and Drusilla then went their separate ways from Darla and Angel. Drusilla and Spike were introduced in "School Hard" as they plotted the downfall of Buffy Summers but never succeeded. Drusilla, however, was successful in killing Kendra the Vampire Slayer by hypnotising her and slicing into her throat. This is the only Slayer Drusilla is known to have killed. When Angel reverted to Angelus after a night of 'perfect happiness' with Buffy, Spike became jealous of Angel's increasing interest in Drusilla. Spike and Drusilla began to drift apart. Their alienation from one another resulted in their leaving Sunnydale, after Spike choked Drusilla unconscious while Buffy and Angel fought. It was not until season five of Buffy and season two of Angel that Drusilla reappeared. Wolfram & Hart took Drusilla to Los Angeles to re-sire the resurrected and now human Darla. The two wreaked havoc in the city until Angel set them on fire. The two went underground to heal, but Drusilla abandoned Darla and returned to Sunnydale to start her relationship with Spike. However, Spike threatened to stake her to demonstrate his love for Buffy. Dissapointed to of her former love, Drusilla left and dissappeared.

Drusilla's madness (as exhibited, especially, in her often-strange dialogue) makes her an interesting character and shows how evil she is. Her speech is often peppered with non sequiturs like "Spike, do you love my insides? The parts you cannot see?" In the seventh, and final season of Buffy the First Evil impersonated Drusilla in a bid to finally tip Spike over the edge of the mental cliff. First in the Season 7 premiere, and then in the tenth episode 'Bring On The Night'. Her third episode in Season Seven was a flashback as part of an episode devoted to Spike. Drusilla's part in the Buffyverse is mainly through flashbacks, only appearing in the present in seasons two and five of Buffy and season two of Angel.

Drusilla has the standard powers and vulnerabilities of a vampire with an arguably greater lust for blood and destruction than most. She is immortal, regenerates damage, drains human blood to survive and is stronger than most human beings. She is vulnerable to holy items and sunlight and can be killed by decapitation or a stake to the heart. She cannot enter the home of a living human without being invited by someone who lives there first. Drusilla is a seer with minor psychic abilities. She receives vivid visions that contain possible glimpses of the future and can also hypnotise people by catching their gazes; she can also see into people's minds and project false imagery into them.
