Du Pont is a town located in Clinch County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 139.

Geography

Du Pont is located at 30°59'23" North, 82°52'14" West (30.989643, -82.870653)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 139 people, 57 households, and 42 families residing in the town. The population density is 67.9/km² (176.8/mi²). There are 62 housing units at an average density of 30.3/km² (78.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 61.87% White, 38.13% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 2.16% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 57 households out of which 31.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.4% are married couples living together, 17.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.6% are non-families. 24.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.88.

In the town the population is spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 90.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $34,375, and the median income for a family is $40,250. Males have a median income of $22,250 versus $21,875 for females.
