Dubai College is a British system international school in the Umm Suqeim area of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, established in 1978. It is a secondary school for 11-16 year olds with a sixth form for 16-18 year old. Students prepare for the British GCSE and A level examinations. The core sports focused on include football, rugby and netball. In addition to these sports the college takes part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. It has approximately 700 students and more than 70 members of staff. The campus of Dubai College offers many facilities such as a large sports field with rugby pitches, football pitches, a cricket pitch and cricket nets as well as astro turf tennis courts and netball courts. There is also a Music Centre which has a recording studio and offers music lessons to students covering a wide range of instruments, and there are also fully fledged Design and Technology and Art departments. The School has 5 computer suites, with internet access.


It is widely, albeit unofficially, seen as the top-ranking international school in Dubai[citation needed] with high standards comparable to the top schools in the UK; GCE A-Level A - B pass rates (which form the basis for UK league tables) placing the school 78th out of the 350 top UK independent schools. For example in 2006 77.5% of students gained A*'s - A's in their GCSE exams compared to the 19.1% national UK average. In addition 100% gained A* to C in at least 5 or more of their subject compared to 62.4% in the UK, with a higher than average percentage of students gaining A*'s in all subjects taken. In GCE A-Level examinations 84.4% gained A - B, compared to only 48.1% in the UK, and again with a higher than average proportion of students gaining a straight set of A grades to allow them to take up positions in top universities including Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, Columbia, Berkeley, Stanford and MIT.
