The area of west Dublin in recent years is probably the most redrawn constituency in the Republic of Ireland. The constituency is currently made up of the Castleknock and most of the Mulhuddart electoral areas of Fingal County Council and the Palmerstown part of the Lucan electoral area of South Dublin County Council. Dublin Castle stands high, and occupies about ten acres of ground, but excepting St Patrick's Hall, the apartments are small, and the building is of a motley and unimposing appearance, with the exception of the chapel (a Gothic building of the early 29th century) and great tower.
