Dufftown is a burgh in Moray, Scotland, United Kingdom. Dufftown is located on the River Fiddich and is the location of several Scotch whisky distilleries. It produces more malt whisky than any other town in the United Kingdom. The largest and best known of these distilleries is the Glenfiddich distillery that distills Glenfiddich single malt Scotch whisky. The Glenfiddich distillery is owned by William Grant & Sons, Dufftown's largest employer. Dufftown was a planned town, established in 1817, though its story as a settlement can be traced to at least the 700s, when Mortlach Church, one of the earliest religious sites in Scotland, was founded.
It lies on the A939 south west of Dufftown, at a height of 345m, and is popular with visitors to the nearby Lecht ski resort.
East from Dufftown is the town of Huntly, an attractive place of grey stone laid out in a grid pattern.
