Dunfermline is a village located in Fulton County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 262.


Geography

Dunfermline is located at 40°29'30" North, 90°1'53" West (40.491767, -90.031282)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²). 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 262 people, 106 households, and 80 families residing in the village. The population density is 778.1/km² (1,999.9/mi²). There are 117 housing units at an average density of 347.5/km² (893.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 95.04% White, 0.00% African American, 2.29% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.67% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 106 households out of which 31.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% are married couples living together, 11.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% are non-families. 20.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 2.85.


In the village the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 101.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.6 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $35,357, and the median income for a family is $41,250. Males have a median income of $22,222 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the village is $16,152. 9.5% of the population and 4.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 11.8% of those under the age of 18 and 11.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Addison Henline was born July 30, 1874 near Colfax, in McLean county, Illinois, and died at Omaha, Thursday, March 7, at 9 a.m.
Surviving are three sons, Carl E. of Cooksville, John of Forrest and Terry of Lexington; four daughters, Evelyn Morgan of Normal, Charlotte Metz of Windsor, Colo., Norma Gilliam of Colfax and Mary Collins of Morton; one brother, Fred Lucas of Dallas City; one sister, LaVerta Harlan of Quinlan, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
