Dunkirk is a town located in Dane County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,053.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 83.7 km² (32.3 mi²). 82.6 km² (31.9 mi²) of it is land and 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.27% water.
Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,053 people, 760 households, and 595 families residing in the town. The population density is 24.8/km² (64.3/mi²). There are 776 housing units at an average density of 9.4/km² (24.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.15% White, 0.19% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 1.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 760 households out of which 36.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.2% are married couples living together, 5.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.6% are non-families. 16.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
