The station serves the northwest edge of downtown Washington, lying under Dupont Circle with two entrances: the north entrance, on Q Street Northwest between Connecticut Avenue and 20th Street, N.W., and the south entrance, on 19th Street. The Q Street entrance features a large round hole with terraced plants around the escalator, and a tube at the edge, giving riders on the escalator the impression that they are descending into what is locally known as " the bowl." Dupont Circle is a traffic circle in the northwest quadrant of Washington, DC, at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, New Hampshire Avenue, P Street and 19th Street.
Dupont Circle also gives its name to the surrounding neighborhood, which is bounded approximately by 15th Street to the east, 22nd Street to the west, M Street to the south, and Florida Avenue to the north.
Dupont Circle has a subway stop on the Washington Metro's Red Line; the entrances are north (20th and Q) and south (19th and Dupont Circle) of the circle.
