The Durham Academy is a non-sectarian, coeducational private school located in Durham, North Carolina. Founded in 1933 as the Calvert Method school, it changed its name to Durham Academy in 1959. It offers classes from kindergarten through twelfth grade, and serves approximately 1,127 students. The lower school has been recognized by the Chicago Athenaeum Musuem of Architecture and Design for its unique design. Durham Academy is organized into four divisions, each with its own director. The Preschool includes pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, the Lower School grades one through four, the Middle School grades five through eight and the Upper School grades nine through twelve. Tution rates range from $30,920 per academic year for pre-kindergarten, to $49,785 per academic year for the upper school.
