The Need For a New Model of the Earth The Living and Dynamic Earth (12423 words)
Downward from the Earth's surface, primary differentiation with depth is accompanied by the progressive decline to zero of the force of gravity at the center of the Earth.
The Earth, whether in the protoplanetary stage or at present, has a velocity gradient from zero at the core to progressively higher velocities as the surface is reached (particularly along the equatorial bulge).
The Dynamics Explorer, a space probe used to study the solar wind's interaction with the Earth and the mechanisms behind the formation of the aurora, also uncovered evidence that does not support the present model, but is expected of this new model.
Understanding plate motions [This Dynamic Earth, USGS] (2502 words)

To determine its precise position on Earth (longitude, latitude, elevation), each GPS ground site must simultaneously receive signals from at least four satellites, recording the exact time and location of each satellite when its signal was received.
