E.H. (Eric Herbert) Warmington (born 1898) was a notable Latin translator and editor. Latin is the language originally spoken in the region around Rome called Latium. ...


His most famous work is the series "Remains of old Latin", however he produced many works, often with other scholars, over many decades of the twentieth century.

  1. Remains of old Latin. I, (Ennius and Caecilius) edited and translated in four volumes 1961;
  2. Remains of old Latin. II, (Livius Andronicus, Gnaeus Naevius, Pacuvius and Lucius Accius) edited and translated 1967
  3. Remains of old Latin. III, (Gaius Lucilius The Twelve Tables) edited and translated in four volumes 1967
  4. Remains of old Latin. IV, (Archaic inscriptions) edited and translated by E.H. in four volumes 1967
