 | Intact colicin E9 has three domains, the R-domain is the central BtuB-binding domain found in all E group colicins, the T-domain is the translocation domain involved in binding Tol proteins in the periplasm and the C-terminal DNase domain carries the cytotoxic activity. |
| Although the channel activity of the E9 DNase is associated with the ability of colicin E9 to kill bacterial cells, it cannot be the causative agent of cell death. |

| Any Marposs measuring head may be connected to E9, it continuously measures the workpiece being machined and compares the actual size to pre-set values to bring the part to the correct final dimension. |
| At these pre-set values the E9 sends output logic signals to the grinding machine feed system and this is visualised by lighting of LED. |
| There is an analogue meter on the front of the E9 to visualise the stock to be removed by grinding before part size is achieved. |
