Encyclopedia > Earl of Ava

The title Marquess of Dufferin and Ava was created in 1888 for Frederick Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, a prominent politician and colonial administrator. Subsidiary titles included Earl of Dufferin (1871), Earl of Ava (1888), Viscount Clandeboye (1871), and Baron Clandeboye (1850). All titles became extinct on the death of the fifth marquess in 1988.
