The title of Earl of Cromer was created in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1901 for Evelyn Baring, 1st Viscount Cromer, the long-time British Consul-General in Egypt.


The Earl bears the subsidiary titles of Viscount Cromer (1899), Viscount Errington (1901) and Baron Cromer (1892), all in the Peerage of the UK.

Cromer is a seaside town and civil parish on the north coast of the English county of Norfolk, 40 km due north of the city of Norwich.
The Cromer crab is a particular delicacy, and the sight of the fishing boats operating on and off the open beach forms an attraction in itself.
Cromer lifeboat station was founded in 1804, the first in Norfolk, and a series of rowing lifeboats was stationed there through the 19th century.
