There followed a period of investigation into the lives of the 1st and 2nd Earl and the journey from the wealth and influence-gathering abilities of the former through the short and rather indolent life of the latter to the finality of the 3rd Earl's uncontrolled spending.
At this point the 1st Earl is well on his way to becoming an influential figure in royal circles.The 2nd Earl was a member of Cotton Hall at Eton College in the care of George E. Marindin a teacher of classics at the college.
