Earth are a US drone metal band formed in 1990 in Olympia, Washington by Dylan Carlson, Slim Moon and Greg Babior. They are pioneers in the minimalistic, long and repetitive form of doom metal known as drone metal. The band at some point moved to Seattle where they met with grunge music icon Kurt Cobain who sang lead vocals in the song "Divine and Bright" from a demo included on the re-release of the live album Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars. Dylan Carlson has been the driving force of the band and still remains the core of an everchanging line-up.
