The World Summit on Sustainable Development, or Earth Summit took place in Johannesburg, South Africa from August 26 to September 4, 2002 to discuss sustainable development issues. It was organised by the United Nations and gathered a number of leaders of nations, businesses and Non-governmental organizations, 10 years after the World Summit in Rio de Janeiro. But as usual the process proceeded slowly and full of ironies. Protestors outside were having fun, even dancing, whilst demanding food, work and a better environment.
