General Information

East Bay High School is located in Gibsonton. Its location is in the center of a rapidly developing region, attracting students from Balm, Riverview, Ruskin, Wimauma, and many other neighboring towns.[citation needed] Balm is an unincorporated, rural community located in southeastern Hillsborough County, Florida, approxmately 18 miles southeast of Tampa. ... The school is known to easily surpass its 1,700 student capacity on a regular basis. In the 2005-2006 school year, the school held around 2,300 students. Even with the opening of two new high schools--Spoto and Earl J. Lennard--in 2006, the school remains crowded at its maximum capacity of 1,700.[citation needed]


The current principal for the 2006 school year is Sharon Morris, former Assistant Principal.


Mascot, motto, and colors

The school's mascot and football team is the "Fighting Indian". The campus is adorned with many Native American-related Senior Class projects, most notably the full-sized wall paintings of the gymnasium and the statue in front of the auditorium. The logo of the school, prior to 2006, was the head of a Native American. The current logo is a spearhead with the initials "EB" within it.[1] A spearhead is the head of a spear. ...


The school colors are crimson red and gray, with alternate colors of white and black also appearing on team shirts and signs.[1]


The school motto is "Aiming for Excellence".[1]
