History
East Central College was founded in 1968 to serve the educational needs of the people in eastern central Missouri. In that same year, 114 acres were purchased for what is now the main campus. The Administration Building was the first facility built on campus, and it was completed in 1971. The Multipurpose Building came next in 1973, followed by the Vocational-Technical Building in 1978 and the Classroom Building in 1985. The most recent addition to the main campus is the new classroom/auditorium facility constructed in 1997-98. The campus now encompasses over 200 acres and is expanding by building a new 15.8 million dollar facility for the use of the Nursing, Allied Health, and Science programs.
