East Dublin is a city located in Laurens County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,484.

Geography

East Dublin is located at 32°33'3" North, 82°52'7" West (32.550854, -82.868661)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.7 km² (3.0 mi²). 7.6 km² (2.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.01% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 2,484 people, 949 households, and 680 families residing in the city. The population density is 328.5/km² (849.3/mi²). There are 1,105 housing units at an average density of 146.1/km² (377.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 56.12% White, 42.23% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. 1.89% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 949 households out of which 33.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.3% are married couples living together, 24.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% are non-families. 24.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.10.

In the city the population is spread out with 29.8% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 83.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $24,412, and the median income for a family is $28,548. Males have a median income of $25,500 versus $16,756 for females. The per capita income for the city is $10,918. 22.2% of the population and 19.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 33.1% of those under the age of 18 and 17.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
