Geography

In the middle of the town is the Metacomet Ridge, a tall, rocky spine of land that once was the Western border of Lake Hitchcock.To the east of this is Salisbury Plain,and to the west flows Salmon Brook River. The south of the town is bordered by the swift flowing Farmington River, whose water levels were risen severely during the Northeast Flooding of October 2005, flooding much of the town with up to 2 feet of water.
