East Lampeter Township is a township located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the population of the township is 13,556.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 51.8 km² (20.0 mi²). 51.7 km² (20.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.30% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 13,556 people, 5,342 households, and 3,739 families residing in the township. The population density is 262.4/km² (679.5/mi²). There are 5,611 housing units at an average density of 108.6/km² (281.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 92.13% White, 2.11% Black or African American, 0.07% Native American, 2.72% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.85% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. 3.87% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 5,342 households out of which 30.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% are married couples living together, 7.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% are non-families. 24.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 3.05.

In the township the population is spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.0 males.
