East Norriton Township is a census-designated place and township located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 13,211.

Geography

East Norriton Township is located at 40°8'55" North, 75°19'58" West (40.148744, -75.33291)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 15.8 km² (6.1 mi²). 15.7 km² (6.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.16% is water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 13,211 people, 5,156 households, and 3,547 families residing in the township. The population density is 838.9/km² (2,172.7/mi²). There are 5,310 housing units at an average density of 337.2/km² (873.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 88.79% White, 6.06% African American, 0.13% Native American, 3.84% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 0.80% from two or more races. 1.17% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 5,156 households out of which 24.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.4% are married couples living together, 7.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% are non-families. 25.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.97.

In the township the population is spread out with 18.8% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 20.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 90.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.1 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $60,536, and the median income for a family is $70,162. Males have a median income of $49,737 versus $33,642 for females. The per capita income for the township is $28,749. 2.9% of the population and 1.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.1% of those under the age of 18 and 5.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
