East Patchogue is a census-designated place located in Suffolk County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 20,824.


Geography

East Patchogue is located at 40°46'6" North, 72°58'59" West (40.768409, -72.983143)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 21.9 km˛ (8.5 mi˛). 21.5 km˛ (8.3 mi˛) of it is land and 0.4 km˛ (0.2 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 1.89% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 20,824 people, 7,493 households, and 5,297 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 966.4/km˛ (2,503.9/mi˛). There are 7,760 housing units at an average density of 360.1/km˛ (933.1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 89.48% White, 3.19% African American, 0.14% Native American, 1.94% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 3.25% from other races, and 1.98% from two or more races. 9.10% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 7,493 households out of which 31.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.6% are married couples living together, 9.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% are non-families. 23.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.71 and the average family size is 3.21.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 23.1% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 94.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.9 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $57,237, and the median income for a family is $64,323. Males have a median income of $45,274 versus $31,704 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $23,619. 4.5% of the population and 2.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.0% of those under the age of 18 and 9.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Welcome to Patchogue Village (717 words)
The general border lines of Patchogue Village are Blue Point on the West, Roe Blvd on the North, Bay Avenue on the East and the Great South Bay on the South.
The Patchogue Theatre is a 1200 seat theatre built in 1921 as a vaudeville house and in 2000 was renovated back to its original glory and is one of the finest performing arts centers on the East Coast.
Patchogue Village has a very extensive recreation program that includes a municipal pool, athletic fields, tennis courts and a large park on our shore front that is available to people of all ages.
