East preston is a large rural area to the East of what was the Town of Dartmouth at the time of its foundation. Currently it is a rural area within the Halifax Regional Municipality.It was located East of another area called Preston. At one time Preston was important as the source of market garden produce.East Preston also played an important roll in supplying produce from small farm holdings. The Area contains a large number of very popular lakes used for recreation.East Preston was predominately a Black Community in the early days but now with the demand for land and the growth of the City of Halifax many people have decided to join the Community.The Recreation Centre and the local Black Baptist Church provide the focus for the many Black families. A road exists that directly connects the two villages North Preston and East Preston. Just East of East Preston another fast growth is taking place around Porters Lake.Porters lake services as the nearest shopping district.
Preston made a full range of all sorts of planes but what they are primarily known for today is the first and best series of cast iron screw adjustable shoulder planes.
Preston and Stanley both made a variety of adjustable bullnose planes but this one was the narrowest model that had an adjuster.
Preston made their 1368 series planes in a wide variety of sizes: 5/8", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", and 1-1/2".
EastPreston is an expansive rural area located in eastern Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia, in Atlantic Canada.
EastPreston is accessible off of Highway 7 or No 207 on Marine Drive through the Ross Road or the Mineville Road.
EastPreston was predominantly a Black community in its early days, and to a degree still is, but now with the demand for land and the growth of the city of Halifax many people from other areas have decided to join the community.
