Report on East Renfrewshire by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland (4095 words)
During the passage through Parliament of the 1994 Act, there was cross-Party understanding that we would review the number of councillors and boundaries of electoral wards for each council in time for changes to be implemented for the 1999 local elections.
On 16 July 1996, East Renfrewshire Council acknowledged our decision that 20 members would provide the appropriate level of representation for its area and that a draft scheme of electoral arrangements would be submitted by mid September.
East Renfrewshire Council was asked to make copies of the electoral ward boundary descriptions, electoral statistics and illustrative maps available for inspection at its offices.
