The Great Plains stretch across Eastern Montana, an area that consists of the eastern half of the U.S. state of Montana and the north-central portion near Great Falls. The area is drained by the Missouri River, which originates in SW Montana, and by its tributaries, the Milk, the Marias, the Sun, and the Yellowstone Rivers. Its largest cities are Great Falls and Billings. Montana is bounded on the north by the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan; on the east by North Dakota and South Dakota; on the south by Wyoming and Idaho; and on the west by Idaho.
