The Eastern Suburbs is a general term which is used to describe the metropolitan area directly to the east and south-east of the Sydney central business district in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Eastern Suburbs can refer to the suburbs within the local government areas of Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick and part of the City of Sydney. To the west of Bondi Junction, the 'Inner-City' or 'Inner-East' parts of the Eastern Suburbs, including Centennial Park, Paddington, Darlinghust, Moore Park, Potts Point, Kings Cross and Rushcutters Bay are old extremely working class areas that have become highly gentrified since the 1980s, with the working classes moving out of the area over this time. The landscape in these areas is dominated by overhanging trees and renovated terrace houses.

Further south of all of these areas are the working class areas that are becoming progressively more middle class, of South Coogee, Maroubra, Malabar, Little Bay and La Perouse. These areas are often known as the "South-Eastern Suburbs" of Sydney. The southern parts around Randwick, Kingsford and Maroubra are more middle and working class, still have an Anglo majority but also contain large Greek, Indonesian and Chinese communities.
