Philanthropy

The proceeds of the meters are donated to charity via The Easton Community Foundation. Programs include:

Easton Community Foundation Scholarships: scholarships are awarded annually in the spring to two graduating students at Northland, Mifflin, Brookhaven, and Gahanna Lincoln high schools. Each of the eight students selected annually receives a $2,500 renewable two-year scholarship.

Change for Charity Meter Program: designates a new organization every two months to receive a portion of the parking meter proceeds and ticket revenues generated at Easton Town Center. In 2006, each of the six partner organizations received $15,000.

Easton Community Room and Booth: Organizations classified as 501(C)(3) may utilize a community booth inside the station building and/or the community room.

Awards

In 2000, Easton Town Center received the ICSC award for Innovative Design of a New Project. It has, at various points, been ranked by Columbus Monthly magazine as "Best of Columbus" for shopping.

Security

Easton has an often criticized age-restricted curfew of 9:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Persons under the age of 16 are not permitted in the interior areas of the town center without an adult present. Varying reasons for this have been given by Easton's security staff, the most common of which seems to be the change from "family oriented" venue during the day to a more "adult oriented" venue during the night (Easton's several bars and entertainment spaces contributes to this environment).

Patrons above the age of 16 are permitted to enter the interior areas of the mall provided they have a valid form of government issued ID. Driver's licenses, passports, and military IDs are the most commonly accepted.

Easton Town Center currently owns two police cruisers that were purchased from the Columbus Police Department, designated as cars 251 and 252. Furthermore, Easton has atleast one Columbus police officer working special duty at all times, but during busy weekends has been known to staff upwards of 15 or more at one time, on top of the 24-hour security staff which can number anywhere from four to thirty people depending on demand.

Trivia

AMC Theaters operates a movie theater at Easton with 30 screens.

Lifetime Fitness operates a 24-hour exercise facility, one of the largest in Columbus, although a new one has opened in Dublin, Ohio that may be even larger.

With 30+ food venues, some of the highest gross revenue restaurants in the central Ohio market can be found at Easton.

the debut of a small town (1605 words)
easton Town Center is not a city district, but it is similar in that it offers a variety of experiences, whether shopping, dining, going to the movies or seeing a show.
The architecture of Easton Town Center is basically split into two areas: the open-air town square, and the indoor train station building.
The scale of the town center was carefully planned to make sure the environment would be small enough to create a sense of intimacy, yet large enough to accommodate art shows, farmer's markets, concerts and other events.
