"Chief Commander" Ebenezer Obey (born in 1942 in Idogo) is a Nigerian popular musician, a contemporary and rival of some of the country's biggest stars, including King Sunny Ade and Fela Kuti. He began his professional career in the mid-1950s, after moving to Lagos. He formed a band called "The International Brothers" in 1964. They played a kind of highlife-juju fusion that caught on after their first hit, "Ewa Wowun Ojumi Ri".
