Eccellenza (Italian for "excellence") is the sixth level of Italian football (soccer). It is a regional league, composed by 28 rounds divided geographically. The first-placed team for each round is automatically promoted to Serie D. The second-placed teams for each round play a play-off phase, in which seven teams are promoted too. One more place to Serie D is allowed to the winner of the "Coppa Italia Dilettanti" (Amateur Italian Cup), a year-long competition between all the national teams of both Eccellenza and Promozione (the lower division).
