Echinocandins are antifungal drugs that inhibit the synthesis of glucan in the cell wall, probably via the enzyme 1,3-β glucan synthase. They are fungicidal against yeast and fungistatic against mold. An antifungal drug is medication used to treat fungal infections such as athletes foot, ringworm, candidiasis (thrush), serious systemic infections such as cryptococcal meningitis, and others. ...
