The Hooded Warbler is a threatened species in Canada. Happy Valley Forests is one of the few remaining Canadian habitats for this species.

The Oak Ridges Moraine lies in Southern Ontario, Canada. It contains the headwaters of sixty-five rivers and streams. It has a wide diversity of woodlands, wetlands, watercourses, kettle lakes, kettle bogs, and significant flora and fauna. It is one of the few remaining continuous green corridors in southern Ontario: it remains thirty percent forested and is one of the last refuges for forest birds in all of southern Ontario. Provincially-significant ecological areas

A number of provincially-significant ecological areas are located in the Oak Ridges Moraine, among them forty-eight wetlands, and twenty-eight earth and life science Areas of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI-ES and ANSI-LS).

The table below lists the ecological zones by municipal jurisdiction; for zones that overlap multiple jurisdictions, the zone is listed in the jursidiction which contains the greatest portion of that zone. Moreover, some of the zones listed may only have some portion of their complex on the Oak Ridges Moraine; for example, a small southern component of the Ansnorveldt Wetland Complex lies on the northern edge of the Oak Ridges Moraine.

Moraine for Life Award Presentation (173 words)
In 2007, the Town of Richmond Hill has become the first municipality ever to be awarded with the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation’s Moraine for Life Award in the Municipal Leadership category.
The award was presented to the Town through the Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Culture at a ceremony following the Oak Ridges Moraine Symposium at the Radisson Hotel in Markham and was officially presented to Richmond Hill Council on February 26.
The Moraine for Life awards are given to recognize an individual, organization or agency that has made a significant contribution to improving the ecology and hydrology of the Moraine and the social well-being of those who live and work on or downstream of the Moraine.
Oak Ridges Moraine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (1949 words)
Overlaying this core is a glaciolacustrine sedimentary layer that is younger and topographically lower, principally in the delta and basin areas of the moraine.
The Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act stipulates that any development which targets the moraine or nearby areas must satisfy several conditions, most prominently that each development leave a buffer zone of 30 m between it and any hydrological feature; for a kettle lake, this measure is from the edge of the lake's catchment area.
It wasn't until William Logan, in 1863, that the moraine's extent was established to be between the Niagara Escarpment in the west, and the Trent River in the east.
