Russia is divided into eleven economic regions (Russian: экономические районы, sing. экономический район; English transliteration: ekonomicheskiye rayony, sing. ekonomichesky rayon). This division is different from the division into federal districts; it is done only for economic and statistical purposes.

  1. Central (Russian: Центральный; English tranlsliteration: Tsentralny)
  2. Central-Chernozem (Russian: Центрально-чернозёмный; English tranlsliteration: Tsentralno-Chernozyomny)
  3. East Siberia (Russian: Восточная Сибирь; English tranlsliteration: Vostochnaya Sibir)
  4. Far East (Russian: Дальний Восток; English tranlsliteration: Dalny Vostok)
  5. North (Russian: Северный; English tranlsliteration: Severny)
  6. North Caucasus (Russian: Северный Кавказ; English tranlsliteration: Severny Kavkaz)
  7. Northwest (Russian: Северо-западный; English tranlsliteration: Severo-Zapadny)
  8. Povolzhye (Russian: Поволжье; English tranlsliteration: Povolzhye)(named indirectly after the Volga River)
  9. Urals (Russian: Урал; English tranlsliteration: Ural)
  10. Volga-Vyatka (Russian: Волго-Вятский; English tranlsliteration: Volgo-Vyatsky)
  11. West Siberia (Russian: Западная Сибирь; English tranlsliteration: Zapadnaya Sibir)
