Eddie is a 1996 movie about a woman, played by Whoopi Goldberg, coaching the last place New York Knicks. After driving the new owner of the New York Knicks, 'Wild' Bill Burgess, Edwina 'Eddie' Franklin is selected to be in a halftime contest to decide who will be the honorary coach; she wins. Back on the sidelines, she gets kicked out of the game by John Baily, the real coach. This aggravates the New York media and the Knicks fans. During the next game, Burgess calls Eddie onto the court from the stands to be the fill-in coach. When John Baily quits, Eddie is hired as a replacement. Eddie takes the team on the road for her first road trip; they lose miserably and she asks to quit and is denied by Burgess. Three kids from a basketball league that she coached come into the locker room and ask the players for autographs. The players say no and Eddie gets angry and lectures the players in the locker room. While trying to teach Ivan the Russian player how to play defense, she asks Stacy Patton to drive the lane which knocks out Eddie and earns the respect of the players. After benching Ivan and Stacy Patton, the Knicks finally work as a team and break their losing streak and create a winning streak. Image File history File links Eddie_movie. ...
