Legendary Guitarist Eddie Benitez (Born Nov. 12th,1962 San Juan, Puerto Rico) Raised in Europe and at the age of 10 his family moved to New York City. Eddie Benitez started his musical career back in 1976 when he was signed to Fania/CBS Records at the age of 14. His first release "NightLife" soared the Latin and jazz charts. "NightLife" received rage reviews from Downbeat and Billboard Magazine.
Eddie at 14 toured the world. His second LP release "Essence of Life" Did very well, both albums were certified Gold. "Having good friends at that age like Al Dimeola, Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Louie Ramirez, Narada Michael Walden and many others. Eddie was the first Latin/Rock artist to play at the famed punk club in New York city CBGBs http://www.cbgb.com/history/history34.htm . Eddie survived Cancer at 23 and decided to go collage and recieved his BA on Psychology. At 28 he worked with famed Producer Elis Pacheco on Latin HipHop music. Eddie ventured with religious studies and returned back to music. In Febuary of 2002 Eddie had a heart attack and recovered fully with minimal heart damage. In August 2005 Eddie while watching the news on television suddenly went into a coma for 3 days, Till this day Doctors fail to diagnose what happened. Now in 2006 working with Legendary Jazz Guitarist/Singer George Benson Eddie will be releasing Two new CDs and a DVD.
