Edgeworth David is best known for his work on the Second British Antarctic expedition lead by Ernest Shackleton in 1907. During this expedition, he lead the first successful ascent of Mount Erebus, Antarctica’s only active volcano, and led the first team to reach the Magnetic South Pole.
