Edinburgh Pentlands was created as a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom at the general election of 1950 and was abolished at the general election of 2005. From 1999 to 2005 it had the same boundaries as the Scottish Parliament constituency of the same name. (See Edinburgh Pentlands).
