Edmonton Riverview was created prior to the 1997 election and was includes re-distributed areas of the Edmonton Glenora, Edmonton Strathcona, and Edmonton Whitemud ridings. The riding boundaries follow the North Saskatchewan River and Stony Plain Road along the northern border, 109th, 111th and 112th Streets to the east, Whitemud Drive to the south, and Blackmud Creek and 158th, 159th and 163rd Streets to the west.
