Biography

Hambro was the son of the politician Carl Joachim Hambro and his wife Gudrun Grieg. He married Elisabeth Raverat, daughter of the French artist Jacques Raverat and his English wife, the artist Gwen Darwin, a granddaughter of Charles Darwin. Charles Eric Alexander Hambro, Baron Hambro born (1930 – 7 November 2002), was a banker and politician in the United Kingdom.
Hambro was the last family chairman of the Hambros Bank, the merchant bank begun by his family.
