Signature of Edwin C. Johnson Edwin Carl Johnson (January 1, 1884 - May 30, 1970) was a Democratic Party politician from the state of Colorado. He represented his state for three terms in the United States Senate from 1937 to 1955 and served as governor of Colorado from 1933 to 1937 and from 1955 to 1957. He was born in Scandia, Kansas, moved with his family to Nebraska as a child, and started a farm in Colorado as a young man. He was lieutenant governor of Colorado from 1931 to 1933.
