Eggplant is a brownish-purple color that resembles eggplants and was introduced by Crayola in 1998, but the Crayola color eggplant is less saturated (more of a grayish red-violet color). Certain designers refer to this color by the French and British English word for eggplant, "aubergine". Eggplants are a fruit, some of which are this color. Eggplant ranges in color from deep, vibrant purple to pale, almost translucent white, and in length from 2 inches (about 5cm) to nearly a foot (about 30cm).
